If you can dream it, you can achieve it. 3 local success stories.

Be as fearless as these businesswomen whose stories we applaud.

Stories. We all have them. I encourage and salute anyone slugging it out, making sacrifices, learning, growing, and achieving their goals. Life is hard guys, turning a dream into a business is tough, but the success is liberating. I wanted to share 3 local businesswomen who have slain their goals and made it look easy. Their achievements are nothing short of spectacular.

Dahlia May Flower Farm

Ranunculus. I fell in love with these flowers from an Instagram post from Dahlia May Flower Farm. I took the drive to her farm down a beautiful county road with rolling hills. I knew that we were close when we saw cars parked all along the side of the road. What was this heaven? An almost 2-acre flower farm ranging from Tulips in the spring, Peonies in June and Dahlias in August.

Fresh stems, herbs to potted plants.

I had the opportunity to meet Melanie Harrington. She is the owner, visionary, the blood, sweat, and tears behind Dahlia May Flower Farm. She is a petite, fierce fireball of passion– up at 5 am with a relentless drive for cultivating fresh flowers right here in Ontario. I love how flowers bring us together. Melanie is grateful for how the community has supported her and the growth of her thriving flower farm. Dahlia May provides outstanding value and selection in their blooms. So much so it has created such a buzz about the farm that folks from Toronto and surrounding areas are flocking in. It feels really refreshing and inspirational just being there. If folks are willing to travel over 2 hours to visit their farm, you know Melanie, her husband and team are doing something that truly matters.

The Old Greenhouse Ice Cream Shop

I followed my heart and it led me to the Old Greenhouse Ice Cream Shop. Four years ago, Sandi Wight took a goal of hers to revive a historic building in Wellington and launched a thriving Ice cream shop. Passion, perseverance and impressive business sense, her timing to launch this shop was impeccable. A delightful treat for after supper, or when that soccer game is over or maybe the perfect solution for a hot summer day. Whatever the reason, that ice cream brings them in by the carloads. The Old Ice Cream Shop offers Flavor Burst soft serve, full cream premium scoop, along with specialty bowls, floats, and slushies, plus so much more. Her staff are the sweetest girls you will ever find, and Sandi beams with pride with every customer who walks in. Your immediately

part of the family.

3 scoops Salted Caramel in waffle cone - to die for.

I love how ice cream creates memories. I remember as a child going for ice cream with my parents, where we went and how we felt. The same goes for my memories for my kids. Sandi has brought this to us with The Old Greenhouse Ice Cream Shop. She thought she was following her passion. Little did she realize that it is so much more than that. She is creating memories for us all.

Kids and ice cream go hand in hand.

To get your next ice cream, The Old Greenhouse is located 182 Wellington Main St, Wellington. Visit their website for more information http://www.ogicecreamshop.com

Upfront Gallery and Home Store

Outstanding quality! New outdoor furniture has arrived.

“Your home should tell a story about who you are, and be a collection of what you love” - Nate Berkus.

This holds true at Upfront Gallery and Home Store in downtown Belleville. This store feels like home to me. Could it be the warm welcome you receive from Dianne, owner of Upfront Gallery, yes!. Can it be the stunning one of kind couches, sectionals, and armchairs waiting for you to soak into, yes! Could it be the stunning artwork and unique selection of area rugs you are destined to own for your home, yes!

Dianne Bartlett, brings to the Quinte area, an impressive resume of experience from interior designing to owning a window covering company with clientele that extended across Canada. She had one goal in mind when opening the Upfront Gallery and Home Store. Her goal was to create a destination for interior design enthusiasts who are looking for something perfect for their homes. Her experience in interior design is extended to you by helping you create your perfect space.

As you know, I am an advocate for buying the right pieces, that reflect your lifestyle. You will find those pieces at Upfront Gallery and Home Store in Belleville.

With my love for flowers, decorating and great food – I always like to share some of my favorite local businesses with you. If you haven’t visited these yet, you must.

After getting to know these women, and lessons I have learned, here are

3 things I know for sure:

1). You need to be bold enough to know that you can do anything you want in life.

2). You need to, while still being humble – be the hardest working person in the room.

3). Be grateful for every achievement, even the small ones.

Till next time,

Live simple, love your space
